Introduction to The Journal of Dental Sciences (JDS):
Published quarterly, The Journal of Dental Sciences (JDS) stands as the official open-access publication of the Taiwan Association for Dental Sciences. The predecessor to JDS is the Chinese Dental Journal (CDJ), which gained recognition on MEDLINE in 1988. As the CDJ continued to demonstrate its significance in the region, the ADS-ROC (Association for Dental Sciences of the Republic of China) decided to expand its reach to the international community, leading to the establishment of JDS in 2006. Since 2008, JDS has been indexed in SCI Expanded, and it is also indexed in Scopus, EMCare, ScienceDirect, and SIIC Databases.
Scope of JDS:
JDS covers a broad spectrum of topics within both basic and clinical dentistry. Manuscripts focusing on the study of endemic diseases such as dental caries and periodontal diseases in specific regions, as well as research on oral pre-cancers, oral cancers, and oral submucous fibrosis related to betel nut chewing habits, are considered for publication. Additionally, JDS welcomes articles on the efficacy of new treatment modalities for conditions like oral verrucous hyperplasia or early oral squamous cell carcinoma.
Furthermore, the journal publishes scientific research evaluating the use of new biomaterials, drugs, and methods for treating patients with various oral and maxillofacial diseases or defects. This encompasses research on the diagnosis of oral and maxillofacial diseases using new methods. The scope also extends to research on quality of life, psychological interventions, improving treatment outcomes, cancer therapeutic complications, rehabilitation, palliative and end-of-life care, and collaborative teamwork for cancer care and oral health care, given the increasing number of elderly patients above 60 years old in the northeast region of Asia.
In summary, JDS publishes scientific dental articles that contribute new knowledge, observations, techniques, diagnosis and treatment modalities, as well as clinical trials, for the benefit of its readers.
Target Audience:
The target audience of JDS includes researchers, dental practitioners, clinicians, oral and dental policy-makers, dental educators, hard-tissue scientists, dental students, and other health professionals. The journal accepts various types of contributions, including Perspectives, Review articles, Original articles, Case reports, Short communications, Research letters, Correspondence, and Letters to the Editor.
