ILTS-iLDLT-LTSI 2023 Consensus Conference: Prediction and Management of Small for Size Syndrome in LDLT

These conferences are organized by the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS) and will be held on Jan 27, 2023, at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

In this Consensus Conference, we will discuss:

• The approach to patients with Small for Size Syndrome (SFSS)
• The incidence, definitions, clinical factors, and biomarkers of SFSS
• Donor and recipient factors that increase the risk of SFSS and how to optimize these factors to reduce its incidence
• Perioperative considerations in the management of a patient with SFSS
• Treatment and management of established SFSS

Learning Objectives:

• Understand the gap in current practice regarding SFSS in LDLT by reviewing published evidence
• Define criteria and prediction models for SFSS in patients undergoing LDLT with SFSS
• Identify and intervene in patients with SFSS to reduce the risk
• Provide recommendations and guidelines for the optimal management of patients with established SFSS

Expected Educational Outcomes:

The participants will have the opportunity to review and discuss research on SFSS, including selection criteria/indications, prognostic models, surveillance strategies, novel therapies, and management. They will gain insight into the current knowledge of portal hemodynamics and its practical application for SFSS in LDLT. Additionally, participants will learn about innovations that contribute to improvements in the field of LDLT.
