BSAVA Small Animal Formulary, Part B: Exotic Pets, 12th Edition (PDF)

by Joanna Hedley

The 12th edition of the BSAVA Small Animal Formulary: Exotic Petscontinues to set the standard for responsible prescribing in the growing and diverse field of exotic animal medicine. The clinical management of these species remains both rewarding and challenging. Veterinary practitioners are faced with a diverse range of taxa, each with distinct anatomical, physiological and metabolic characteristics. Although knowledge continues to grow rapidly, there remains a shortage of robust pharmacological studies and controlled clinical trials for many drugs used in exotic pet medicine.

This edition introduces new monographs, including afoxolaner, atorvastatin, and danofloxacin, broadening the therapeutic scope for an ever-wider range of species. A new appendix on barium contrast media and the addition of emergency doses on the inside front cover provide valuable quick-reference support for clinicians in urgent situations. Another key feature is new client information leaflets covering routes of administration ― inhalational, injectable, oral, topical ear, and topical eye ― helping practitioners communicate clearly with owners and ensure safe home care for these unique patients.
