The Advanced Dental Implantology Program (30 Credit Hours) is a comprehensive course designed to bring dental professionals up to speed with the latest techniques and trends in dental implantology. In this course, participants can expect to learn about the different aspects of dental implantology, including treatment planning, digital oral design, socket shield technique, immediate implant placement and loading, implant-supported over-dentures, and guided bone regeneration.
The course curriculum covers five dimensions of successful treatment planning, which is taught by Dr. Sam Omar. These dimensions include Bucco-lingual, Mesio-distal, Apico-occlusal, Relationship to adjacent teeth, implants, waxup and AP spread, and Bone Density and Loading. Dr. Omar provides a detailed explanation of these dimensions and offers examples to make them easier to comprehend.
Dr. Sam Omar also teaches the Digital Oral Design (DOD): Guidelines for full arch treatment planning lecture, which includes a definition, case presentation, occlusal plane, and facebow record. This lecture provides guidelines for full arch treatment planning using digital oral design.
Participants can also learn the Socket Shield technique, a surgical technique used to preserve the labial bone and soft tissue after an immediate implant placement. Dr. Abdallah Mattar covers criteria for the tooth being treated by the procedure, literature review, instrumentation, complications, and case presentation.
The Immediate Implant Placement and Immediate Implant Loading techniques are taught by Dr. Mahmoud Moussa. The Immediate Implant Placement lecture includes the dual zone, clean and healthy tissues, socket shield technique, the difference between immediate placement and immediate loading, osseointegration chart, rules of immediate loading, connections, submergence, single teeth crowns, full arches, and intra-oral welding technique. The Immediate Implant Loading lecture covers how to increase secondary stability and the different implant loading options.
Implant-Supported Over-Dentures and Case Presentations are covered in a lecture by Prof. Dr. Mostafa Helmy. The lecture covers indications and contraindications, pre-surgical evaluation and general requirements, treatment choices and types of attachment systems, direct pick-up technique, indirect pick-up technique, and the All-on-four concept and techniques.
Guided Bone Regeneration is taught by Dr. Omar Sitten, covering course overview, introduction, tissue changes after extraction, divisions of available bone, horizontal defect class (IV), vertical defect class (IV), materials used in guided bone regeneration, autogenous bone grafts, allograft and xenograft, alloplast, membranes, non-resorbable membranes, and resorbable membranes.
In conclusion, the Advanced Dental Implantology Program is a valuable opportunity for dental professionals to further their education in dental implantology.
