1. Overview
This is a primary care medical conference organized by Medical Education Resources (MER), a non-profit organization. The conference is titled “Internal Medicine for Primary Care: Endocrinology/Gynecology/Infectious Diseases/Orthopedics”. It will be held from June 11-14, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa & Casino in Aruba.
2. Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this program, participants should be better able to:
Develop patient-specific treatment plans for the management of type 2 diabetes.
Diagnose and tailor treatment strategies for type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Identify the risks and benefits of utilizing bisphosphonates in the treatment of osteoporosis.
Identify the risks of abnormal thyroid function.
Discuss emerging infectious diseases including resurgence of vaccine-preventable diseases, zoonoses, and diseases related to animal exposures.

Infectious Diseases – Emerging Infectious Diseases: Novel influenza viruses, resurgence of vaccine-preventable diseases, zoonoses and disease related to animal exposures (including vectors such as mosquitoes that bear west Nile virus and dengue), bioterrorism and food/waterborne illness.

Orthopedics – Ankle and Foot: This presentation will address a series of common acute and chronic injuries and pain syndromes to the foot and ankle as they would present in the primary care setting. The focus will be on developing a working differential diagnosis based on the historical mechanism of injury and exam findings.
