Current overview of theories and design recommendations for teaching and learning with digital media
The research field for teaching and learning with digital media has evolved considerably in recent years. Numerous experimental studies and meta-analyses now form the empirical basis of the individual design effects and the underlying (frame‑) models and (frame‑) theories. In addition, further design principles have been postulated and empirically reviewed, which has led to an increase in design recommendations for learning, especially multimedia learning. New measuring instruments have been designed and validated and can now be used profitably in future research work for teaching and learning with digital media.
Of central importance for the further development of the research field is the extension of perspective, which, in addition to the study of cognitive processes in teaching and learning, now also takes into account motivational and emotional as well as social and cultural processes.
This development is taken into account by this editor. It focuses on the following topics:
How information is processed and stored
Why learning is not just a cognitive process
Whiteboard Animations
Educational Agents
Teach and learn with examples
Digital Educational Games
Intelligent systems for teaching and learning
A fascinating insight into the current state of research for all learners and lecturers, practitioners and researchers.
