Moreover, the journal also invites poetry, personal narratives, images, and other creative works from young individuals, family and community members, and health professionals, aiming to enrich the understanding of the lived experiences of adolescents and young adults in a manner that complements scientific research.

As the official publication of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM), the Journal aligns with the society’s mission to improve the health and well-being of adolescents and young adults. SAHM is a multidisciplinary organization that seeks to generate, synthesize, and disseminate scientific and scholarly knowledge specific to the health needs of young people. In pursuit of this objective, the Society established The Journal of Adolescent Health in 1980, which has since served as a vital platform for advancing research and knowledge in the field.

Through its rigorous peer-review process and collaborative engagement with various disciplines, the Journal of Adolescent Health continues to play a pivotal role in promoting evidence-based practices, informing policy decisions, and shaping the future of adolescent and young adult health.
