Digital Dentures with Meshmixer
There are a variety of options when it comes to designing a denture for milling or 3D printing. Meshmixer, while not dental CAD software, is a fine program to use for those looking for a less expensive alternative to Exocad or 3Shape. While the process requires a little extra effort, there are shortcuts and tips/tricks shared here to successfully make dentures in Meshmixer. With enough practice, you can get quite proficient with it.
This course is intended to walk you through the process of designing the denture. It starts from the point where you have just digitized the impressions and records. There is an explanation on how to 1] do a cutback final where you would add pink composite and 2] create separate teeth and bases that can be printed or milled alone (teeth in white and base in pink) and then combined into one.
There is also a tutorial on making custom trays for those wanting to go even more digital.
Enjoy the course and feel free to check out the live course I do with Valerie Cooper DDS, MS (the “Denture Queen”) where we cover all aspects of digital dentures. Available courses are found on my website at natefarley.com/courses.
