This book focuses on an exploration of the stigma that many individuals with dementia face in their day to day lives. It is divided into four chapters. Chapter 1 provides a comprehensive overview of dementia. This chapter also describes the concept of stigma and how it can affect the development, severity, and duration of dementia. Chapter 2 provides an explanation of the importance of tracing the perception of dementia throughout history. Chapter 3 is an exploration of the contributing factors to stigma in dementia in modern society. Chapter 4 is a compilation of the stories of individuals with dementia and their caregivers. It is a written representation of the storytelling intervention briefly mentioned in Chapter 3. The author hopes that this book will bring some new knowledge of the various contributing factors to modern stigma in dementia around the world as well as a greater understanding of the importance of addressing this stigma.
