Cirugía Española is the official journal of the Asociación Española de Cirujanos (Spanish Association of Surgeons), which is a collective of the majority of Spanish surgeons from different surgical specialties.

The Journal is the most effective platform for publishing technical and conceptual advances in Spanish surgery. Additionally, the pages of this book have devoted increasing amounts of attention to the biological and clinical aspects of surgical pathology, this has led to a greater focus on surgery as a whole, which previously was the primary focus of this field of medicine.

The content of Cirugía Española is composed of the following parts: Original Articles, Review Articles, Case Reports, Image of the month and Letters to the Editor. The articles are chosen and published after careful review in accordance with the international standards of analysis. An English version of the Journal has also been released since 2008.
