Overview
For over a decade, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) has offered this annual course, providing a comprehensive overview of key topics in critical care and oncology.
The morning program features a series of expert-led didactic lectures overing a wide range of topics such as peri-intubation preoxygenation using NIPPV, ventriculo-arterial coupling, bradycardic syndromes, massive hemoptysis, necrotizing soft tissue infections, and interventional radiology approaches to acute stroke management.
In the afternoon*, participants may choose to attend an optional Pediatric Critical Care Breakout Session, covering analgesia and sedation strategies, pediatric ARDS, and case-based discussion of rare pediatric tumors.
This course is intended for nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, respiratory therapists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals involved in critical care. Registered participants will receive access to a online syllabus, which includes select video recordings of the lectures and PDF versions of faculty presentations.
*Please note: The afternoon Simulation Lab experience has been canceled. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Objectives
Summarize importance noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) for peri-intubation preoxygenation in hypoxic patients
Describe the diagnostic criteria and management strategies for ventriculo-arterial coupling
Describe the benefits and challenges of family presence during emergency care
Describe the diagnostic criteria and management strategies for bradycardic syndromes
Describe the diagnostic criteria and management strategies for manage massive hemoptysis
Identify current guidelines for the management of necrotizing soft tissue fasciitis
Summarize interventional radiology (IR) techniques used in the management of acute stroke
Pediatric Breakout — Explore pharmacologic agents commonly used for combined analgesia and sedation in critically ill pediatric patients
Pediatric Breakout — Understand the pathophysiology, diagnostic criteria, and treatment strategies for pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)
Pediatric Breakout — Discuss diagnostic and treatment modalities in pediatric rare tumors through a case-based report
The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Critical Care Oncology Symposium 2025 is best for critical care physicians, oncologists, hospitalists, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals managing acutely ill cancer patients. It’s ideal for:
Enhancing expertise in peri-intubation strategies, bradycardic syndromes, massive hemoptysis, and ventriculo-arterial coupling
Learning from expert-led lectures that blend cutting-edge science with bedside practicality
Staying current on emergency interventions and ICU protocols tailored to oncology patients
Held on September 30, 2025, this one-day symposium delivers high-impact education for clinicians navigating the complex intersection of oncology and critical care.
