Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists Echo Board Review Course 2025

The Echo Board Exam Review Course is designed for Fellows who will be sitting the National Board of Echocardiography Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Examination (Advanced PTEeXAM). A panel of experts will lead sessions designed to help prepare Echo Board candidates for the exam.

Educational Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
• Review the fundamentals of ultrasound physics.
• Perform hemodynamic calculations using ultrasound.
• Define the clinical application of two and three-dimensional echocardiographic imaging and use of Doppler principle to assess normal and abnormal cardiac states.
• Discuss the normal and abnormal anatomy and function of the native and implanted valves using 2D/3D imaging and Doppler derived quantification.
• Assess the integral role of echocardiography guided decision-making in complex surgery, percutaneous therapies, and clinical dilemmas.

Fellows preparing for the National Board of Echocardiography Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (Advanced PTEeXAM).
Anesthesiologists and perioperative physicians seeking a focused, expert-led review of echocardiography principles and exam content.
Residents and trainees in cardiovascular anesthesiology aiming to deepen their understanding of perioperative echo.

The course features sessions led by a panel of experts and is structured to help candidates succeed in the Advanced PTEeXAM
