Overview
This three-day course presents major clinical topics in the field of Rheumatology to assist physicians preparing for the American Board of Internal Medicine(ABIM) Subspecialty Examination in Rheumatology, and the practicing clinician seeking to update their knowledge and care for rheumatology patients. The course overall focuses on diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic disease, disease-management problems and key advances in practice over the past 10 years.
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Apply current, evidence-based, standards of care to rheumatic diseases (including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, other systemic, autoimmune diseases, autoinflammatory diseases, seronegative arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, crystalline arthritis, and soft tissue pain syndromes);
- Improve diagnostic accuracy by application of best available recent data and expert guidance;
- Refine, optimize and monitor rheumatic disease treatments based on new knowledge of efficacy and safety;
- Adopt newly approved treatments appropriately based on the latest medical evidence;
- Refine approach to pain control based on the latest evidence;
- Increase utilization of self-assessment.
