This book demonstrates the value and significance of the disease model in regards to malaria, this problem is globally recognized as a public health concern. This book describes the malaria’s biology in the liver and all in vitro platforms for the liver stage of malaria, including the principles, protocols, applications, and limitations of these platforms, as well as a description of how they are modeled and evaluated. The first chapter describes the fundamental principles of stem cells in the generation of hepatocytes during development and in adults. The following sections discuss recent and emerging research in the field of liver organoids and liver-on-a-chip that is dedicated to the modeling of malaria.
