Overall Course:

The Clinical Approach to Vascular Ultrasound and Prep Course for RPVI is a digital educational program that is intended to provide participants with a fundamental understanding of both the performing and interpreting of vascular ultrasound studies. Developed in conjunction with medical and technical experts from Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Stanford University Hospital, University of Colorado, and Johns Hopkins Hospital, this course provides practical examples and case studies that augment participants’ capacity to apply knowledge to real patients.

Lower extremities’ physiology and imaging studies that are fundamental to the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral artery disease.

The typical and atypical anatomy of the subclavian and vertebral arteries is documented.

Methods and signs of predicting upcoming graft failure.

The diagnosis and description of deep vein thrombosis, pelvic congestion syndrome, May-Thurner syndrome, and venous thoracic outlet syndrome.

Dynamic TCD investigations and their surgical procedures and followups.

Learning Goals:

After completing this training, participants will have the ability to:

Describe the noninvasive studies of the peripheral, cerebrovascular, and abdominal systems.

Use criteria based on velocity to grade the severity of stenosis in the vascular system, including dialysis, endovascular procedures, and bypasses.

Understanding the fundamental principles and technology of ultrasound in relation to vascular diagnosis.

Reviews of the commonly occurring topics on the Vascular Interpreter’s exam (RPVI).

Develop and implement a vascular research program in their home institution.
