Out with the Old and In with the New: An Updated Approach to the Cytologic Classification of Tumors 2023
This course aims to provide an overview of standardized reporting schemes for the cytologic classification of non-neoplastic and neoplastic processes in various sites, including the pancreatobiliary tract, liver, thyroid, head and neck (including salivary gland), urine, kidneys, adrenal gland, lung, and soft tissue. The course will cover new developments in diagnosis, grading, and staging, and illustrate daily challenges and practical clues for proper handling of specimens and accurate cytologic diagnosis of neoplasms. Through case-based learning, pathologists will gain a unique perspective on the diagnostic morphometric signatures of key entities and their distinction from mimics, which can be applied to daily practice in smaller hospital or private practice settings.
