Orthopaedic surgeons, as well as the team of clinicians involved throughout the patient continuum of care, are now presented with a multitude of new surgical and nonsurgical options that are taken into consideration when providing treatment for the orthopaedic and musculoskeletal patient populations. While the patient population’s need for orthopaedic services increases, clinicians and allied health care professionals need to be educated on the ever-changing clinical advances in orthopaedic subspecialties. Therefore, this course will address recent changes in orthopaedic care management and decision making, innovative surgical techniques and clinical advances, in tandem with rehabilitative modalities presented through didactic lectures and point/counterpoint debates, all supported by evidence-based research and outcome measures in alignment with patient-centric goals.
This program is designed for MDs, PAs, NPs, RNs, PTs and ATCs. All other members of the health care team who are interested in education about clinical advances and current controversies in orthopaedic subspecialties are welcome to attend.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
All Northwell Health CME activities are intended to improve patient care, safety, and outcomes. At the conclusion of this conference participants should be able to:
- Describe the difference in clinical outcomes for the osteoarthritis patient population who elect to have joint replacement surgery vs. non-operative treatment methods.
- Apply state-of-the-art orthopaedic and rehabilitative care in the evaluation and treatment of injuries in the anterior cruciate ligament, shoulder, hamstring and Achilles tendon sustained by the patient during athletic activity.
- Determine most appropriate clinical interventions and rehabilitation protocols to apply for female athletes who sustain injury during athletic activity on or off the field.
