Anatomy, Techniques, and Approaches in Temporal Lobe Surgery: A Step-by-Step Guide (Original PDF from Publisher+Videos)

By Michael T. Lawton, Unknown Author

A comprehensive, step-by-step surgical guide to managing temporal lobe epilepsy

As arguably the most complex lobe of the brain, all the regions of the temporal lobe require a high level of anatomical and functional knowledge to conduct safe and effective surgical operations. This unique resource covers diverse surgical resection techniques commonly used to treat temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). Anatomy, Techniques, and Approaches in Temporal Lobe Surgery: A Step-by-Step Guide edited by Drs. Ali Tayebi Meybodi, Mark C. Preul, Kris A. Smith, and Michael T. Lawton augments hands-on learning attained from cadaver training, with state-of-the-art contributions from renowned pioneers in neuroanatomy and neurosurgery.

The book starts with an introductory chapter on the history of TLE surgery, followed by two chapters that detail functional and surgical anatomy, respectively. The seven procedural chapters meticulously and systematically depict how to perform current TLE surgical approaches through succinct discussion, surgically oriented views, figures, and accompanying videos. While this book eloquently bridges the gap between didactic text and the operating room, the authors emphasize the importance of neurosurgical training laboratories, in-depth study, and practicing temporal lobe procedures on cadavers.
