Telepsychotherapy and Mental Health Services : Evidence-based Therapeutic Approaches

About this book

This book offers a comprehensive overview of the main internet-based psychotherapeutic approaches that are evidence-based and their adaptations for specific populations and settings. It provides an in-depth analysis of the primary challenges and obstacles faced by each therapeutic approach, along with the strategies employed by renowned experts to overcome them. Furthermore, the book delves into specific concerns that online clinicians must consider, such as identifying patients suitable for online treatment, addressing resistance to virtual meetings, building a strong therapeutic relationship online, enhancing one’s online presence, and other related topics.
The book is divided into five “single-topic” sections: history, methods, and research findings; main internet-based psychotherapeutic approaches; adaptations for specific populations and settings; online treatment for specific disorders; and online psychotherapy for patients with medical conditions.
The volume is intended for a wide readership, ranging from clinical psychologists, health psychologists, psychotherapists, and psychiatrists, to social workers, general practitioners, psychotherapy trainees, residential psychiatrists, college/university students, mental health nurses, and researchers in the field. It will also be of great interest to patients and their relatives.
