Course Description
Mayo Clinic Cardiovascular Online Board Review provides the internist and cardiologist with an overview of all aspects of cardiovascular medicine. Well-known experts in each field will give in-depth didactic presentations on state-of-the-art subjects in cardiovascular medicine. This review course is designed specifically to prepare the cardiovascular specialist for the cardiovascular boards and/or recertification. This course will also provide the internist or practicing cardiologist with an update on the latest knowledge and advances in cardiovascular medicine. The Echo Focus Session is part of the enduring program as well. Please Note: The Echo Focus portion is “bonus” material and not intended for use for studying for the boards.
The Cardiovascular Online Board Review course is delivered through an online personalized learning gateway enabling learners to take a pre-assessment to identify areas of strength and weakness and then directing their learning with a personalized study guide that concentrates solely on areas where they need reinforcement. Learners can view videos from the live/livestream course, listen to streaming audio presentations, review learning objectives, journal citations, articles and guidelines and board pearls, take notes on PowerPoint presentations, take pre- and post-assessments, practice coding exams, and more.
Course Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- HYPERTENSION: Describe the etiology and pathophysiology of restrictive and other non-dilated cardiomyopathies and use this information to effectively diagnose and manage patients.
- VALVULAR DISEASE: Recognize and diagnose venous thromboembolism (VTE) and pulmonary embolism, using the appropriate algorithm for VTE diagnosis based on a pretest probability of disease assessment strategy.
- CAD: Identify cardiovascular disease risk factors in patients without known CAD and use them to predict the risk of future coronary events Evaluate acute and chronic ischemic heart disease using standard and stress echocardiography.
- ARRYTHMIAS: Identify the classification and mechanisms of action of antiarrhythmic agents.
- CONGENITAL: Explain the physiologic changes that occur with pregnancy.
